BOARD OF EDUCATION DISTRICT #62

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2025

IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE PROPERTY TAX LEVY HEARING

SCRIBNER – SNYDER BAND BUILDING

 

 

OPEN THE MEETING

Call the meeting to order at 6:56 p.m. Scribner-Snyder President Mike Fischer presiding.

 

OPEN MEETINGS ACT

Notice of this meeting was properly published in a newspaper of general circulation by advance Public Notice with notice and advance agenda given to all members of the board prior to the meeting date.  Scribner-Snyder personnel Kate Chrisman, Malia Nemecek and Sharon Meyer were in attendance.

 

ROLL CALL

A call of roll showed all members present:  Janis Baker, Dyann Bradbury, Jake Brainard, Mike Fischer, Aaron Lange and Lisa Lawton.

ACTION ITEMS

 

BUDGET RESOLUTIONS

 

  1. GENERAL FUND BUDGET

Brainard moved that the General Fund Budget for 2025-2026 be set at $5,967,344 with a property Tax Requirement of $3,092,741.  Bradbury seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

 

  1.  BUILDING FUND BUDGET

Bradbury moved that the Building Fund Budget for 2025-2026 be set at $2,274,063 with a property Tax Requirement of $834,060.  Baker seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

 

RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE PROPERTY TAX REQUEST

Fischer moved to approve the following Property Tax Request as written in the agenda.  Baker seconded and motion carried 6-yes.                   

 

RESOLUTION SETTING THE PROPERTY TAX REQUEST

RESOLUTION NO. School Year 2025-2026

 

WHEREAS, Nebraska Revised Statute 77-1632 and 77-1633 provides that the Governing Body of Scribner-Snyder CSD passes by a majority vote a resolution or ordinance setting the tax request; and

 

WHEREAS, a special public hearing was held as required by law to hear and consider comments concerning the property tax request;

 

Now, THEREFORE, the Governing Body of Scribner-Snyder CSD resolves that:

 

  1. The 2025-2026 Property tax request be set at:

 

      General Fund:                $ 3,092,741.00

      Special Building Fund:  $    834,060.00

 

  1. The total assessed value of property differs from last year’s total assessed value by 9.63 percent.

 

  1. The tax rate which would levy the same amount of property taxes as last year, when multiplied by the new total assessed value would be 0.582059 per $100 of assessed value.

 

  1. Scribner-Snyder CSD proposes to adopt a property tax request that will cause its tax rate to be 0.575378 per $100 of assessed value.

 

  1. Based on the proposed property tax request and changes in other revenue, the total operating budget of Scribner-Snyder CSD will decrease last year’s budget by 7.35 percent.

 

  1. A copy of this resolution be certified and forwarded to the County Clerk on or before October 15, 2025

 

Motion by Bradbury, seconded by Brainard, to adopt Resolution #School Year 2025-2026
