                                                             SPECIAL MEETING

BOARD OF EDUCATION DISTRICT #62

FRIDAY, JANUARY 30, 2026 @ 6:30 P.M.

SCRIBNER – SNYDER BAND BUILDING

 

 

OPEN THE MEETING

Call the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Scribner-Snyder President, Dyann Bradbury presiding.

 

OPEN MEETINGS ACT

Notice of this meeting was properly published in a newspaper of general circulation by advance Public Notice with notice and advance agenda given to all members of the board prior to the meeting date.  Scribner-Snyder personnel, Malia Nemecek, Sharon Meyer and Rex Pfeil were in attendance.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

ROLL CALL

A call of roll showed 5 members present:  Dyann Bradbury, Jake Brainard, Mike Fischer, Lisa Lawton and Janis Baker.

ACTION ITEMS

 

DISCUSS, CONSIDER, AND TAKE ALL NECESSARY ACTION TO APPROVE THE RESIGNATION OF KATE CHRISMAN, AND AUTHORIZE THE BOARD PRESIDENT TO EXECUTE ANY DOCUMENTS TO EFFECTUATE SAID RESIGNATION

Brainard moved to accept the resignation of Kate Chrisman and authorize the Board President to execute any documents to effectuate said resignation.  Baker seconded and motion carried 5-yes.

 

DISCUSS, CONSIDER, AND TAKE ALL NECESSARY ACTION TO APPROVE THE INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT CONTRACT WITH REX PFEIL, AND AUTHORIZE THE BOARD PRESIDENT TO EXECUTE SAID CONTRACT.

Fischer moved to approve the Interim Superintendent Contract with Rex Pfeil and authorize the Board President to execute said contract.  Lawton seconded and motion carried 5-yes.

 

DISCUSS, CONSIDER, AND TAKE ALL NECESSARY ACTION TO APPROVE REX PFEIL TO REPRESENT THE DISTRICT IN ALL MATTERS RELATING TO LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL PROGRMAS AND FUNDS, SUCH AS BUT NOT LIMITED TO TITLE PROGRAMS, ESU #2 CO-OP PURCHASING OF SUPPLIES, E-RATE, ETC.

Lawton moved to approve Rex Pfeil to represent the district in all matters relating to local, state, and federal programs and funds, such as but not limited to Title Programs, ESU #2 Co-op purchasing of supplies, E-Rate, etc.  Baker seconded and motion carried 5-yes.

 

INFORMATIONAL ITEMS

 

  1. NOTICE OF BOARD OF EDUCATION VACANCY

The Scribner-Snyder Community Schools Board of Education accepted the resignation of board member Aaron Lange at the January 19, 2026 meeting.  In accordance with state statutes, the Board will begin the process of appointing an individual to complete the remainder of Aaron Lange’s term.  This term ends December 31, 2026.

 

The Scribner-Snyder Community Schools Board of Education is encouraging community members to consider this volunteer position in support of public education and the students of Scribner-Snyder Community Schools.  Patrons interested in being considered for the appointment must be a resident of the school district and qualified registered voter.  Applications will be available at the school office located at 400 Pebble Street, Scribner, NE 68057.

 

The Board will interview applicants at a Special Board of Education Meeting on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Band Building and will select the candidate following the interviews. The newly appointed board member will take the oath of office at the regular monthly Board of Education Meeting on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Band Building.

 

Application Deadline:  Friday, February 27, 2026, at 12:00 Noon.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education of District #62, Dodge County, will be Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. in the Scribner-Snyder Band Room.  Agenda items are kept continually current in the superintendent’s office and may be inspected during regular business hours.
