OPEN THE MEETING
Call the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Scribner-Snyder President, Dyann Bradbury presiding.
OPEN MEETINGS ACT
Notice of this meeting was properly published in a newspaper of general circulation by advance Public Notice with notice and advance agenda given to all members of the board prior to the meeting date. Scribner-Snyder personnel Malia Nemecek and Megan Stock were in attendance.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
ROLL CALL
A call of roll showed 5 members present: Janis Baker, Dyann Bradbury, Jake Brainard, Lisa Lawton and David Schnoor, 1 Absent (Fischer)
Baker moved to excuse board member Mike Fisher’s absence. Lawton seconded and motion carried 5-yes, 1-absent (Fischer)

ACTION ITEMS
APPROVAL OF THE CONSENT AGENDA
Brainard moved to approve the Consent Agenda as presented. This includes the approval of the agenda, July 9, 2026 Regular Meeting Minutes, Treasurers Report (attachment 1), Financial Report (attachment 2), General Fund expenses (attachment 3), Special Building expenses (attachment 4) and placed them on file. Lawton seconded and motion carried 5-yes, 1-absent (Fischer)
SCRIBNER AREA FOUNDATION FAIRGROUND BATHROOM RENOVATION PROJECT
Brainard moved to discuss providing the Scribner Area Foundation with financial support for the Scribner Fairground Bathroom Renovation Project. Lawton seconded the motion.
The Board invited Laura Schnoor, Scribner Area Foundation member to present information. After discussion, the board approved $2,000 for the Fairground bathroom renovation and motion carried 4-yes, 1-abstain (Bradbury), 1-absent (Fischer).
DECLARATION OF SURPLUS PROPERTY
Baker moved to declare the items listed obsolete or no longer needed for school operations to be disposed of in accordance with board policy 710.01 – Disposal of School Properties. After discussion, Brainard seconded and motion carried 5-yes, 1-absent (Fischer).
BUDGET HEARING DATE
Schnoor moved to set the date of the Budget Hearing for September 16, 2026 at 6:00 pm. Baker seconded and motion carried 5-yes, 1-absent (Fischer).
PROPERTY TAX LEVY HEARING DATE
Schnoor moved to set the date of the Property Tax Levy Hearing for September 16, 2026 immediately following the Budget Hearing. After discussion, Baker seconded and motion carried 5-yes, 1-absent (Fischer)
DISCUSS, CONSIDER, AND TAKE NECESSARY ACTION TO PURCHASE A FORD AWD TRANSIT VAN MODIFIED FOR PUPIL TRANSPORTATION
Brainard moved to approve the purchase of a Ford AWD Modified Pupil van from Diers Ford, Lincoln for the amount of $63,998. After discussion, Baker seconded and motion carried 5-yes, 1-absent (Fischer)
DISCUSS, CONSIDER, AND TAKE ACTION ON SCRIBNER-SNYDER COMMUNITY EDUCATION FOUNDATIONAL MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
Lawton moved to approve a Memorandum of Understanding between the Scribner-Snyder Community Schools and the Scribner-Snyder Community Educational Foundation (attachment 5). After discussion, Baker seconded and motion carried 4-yes, 1-No (Schnoor), 1-absent (Fischer).
DISCUSS, CONSIDER, AND TAKE ACTION ON APPROVING A TEACHER EVALUATION TOOL
Lawton moved to approve a new teacher evaluation tool which aligns with the Nebraska Department of Education’s teacher standards. After discussion, Brainard seconded and motion carried 5-yes, 1-absent (Fischer).
DISCUSSION ITEMS AND INFORMATION ITEMS – NO ACTION TO BE TAKEN
- August 17, 2026 at 6:30 pm - Leadership Transitional Goal Board Work Session Amend Special Building Fund
- Move the regular September Board Meeting to September 16, 2026.
- Priority Schools Designation Update
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business on the agenda of this meeting, President Dyann Bradbury adjourned this meeting at 7:49 p.m.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education of District #62, Dodge County, will be Wednesday, September 16, 2026 immediately following the Property Tax Levy hearing in the Scribner-Snyder Band Room. Agenda items are kept continually current in the superintendent’s office and may be inspected during regular business hours.
